Students will think critically about how to responsibly use AI companions for studying
Students will explore the concept of “productive struggle” and consider how having AI complete their work can bypass valuable opportunities to practice and learn. They will examine why large language models mirror human tone and how the tone of a prompt can shape an AI’s response. Students will also learn to identify AI “hallucinations,” practice fact-checking strategies, and develop a personal code of conduct for using AI ethically and effectively. These activities will address the guiding question: What is the best way to study with an AI companion?
