IN THIS TEACHING UNIT

Students will learn to use evidence and context to make responsible decisions about media messages and AI tools.

They will separate observation from inference, examine how captions and framing shape an image’s meaning, and distinguish facts, interpretations, recommendations, and the limits of available evidence. They will also distinguish simulated empathy from human care and evaluate chatbot promises, privacy, and boundaries. By considering when AI supports learning and when it replaces necessary practice, students will develop prompts that keep them actively involved and check AI-generated claims against reliable sources. They will bring these skills together to build and revise a short argument that preserves accurate facts, acknowledges missing context, and explains a responsible choice.
